What the quiz is about "Guess the year by the Map of Europe":

How does the quiz work?

You are shown a map of Europe and need to pick the correct year from four options. The key hint to use is the years marked on the maps showing when states existed. Look carefully at those dates and you will be able to rule out some of the answer choices straight away — which narrows things down significantly even if you do not know the exact answer.

How difficult is the quiz?

One of the hardest quizzes in the History category. Without the date hints on the maps, most questions would be nearly impossible to answer. Medieval maps are especially tricky — far fewer people know where borders stood back then compared to 20th-century Europe.

Who is this quiz for?

Anyone who loves poring over old maps. If you are the kind of person who can spend hours tracing European borders from antiquity to the present day, you are going to have a great time here. It is also a natural fit for history teachers and anyone with solid knowledge of European history.

How do you get a perfect score?

Make full use of the date hints on the maps. Beyond that, knowing the turning points in European history — the moments when the map changed dramatically — is a huge help. The end of World War I in 1918, the fall of the USSR, the Napoleonic Wars — if you know what Europe looked like after each of those, half the answers become obvious.
